Here at Franche, we encourage pupils & staff alike to make the journey to school sustainable. To this end we have a Travel Plan written and regularly reviewed by parents, staff and governors’. Our travel Plan has specific aims and objectives to encourage safe and sustainable travel by everyone coming to the school site. We carry out an annual survey to assess our progress against our goals.
As a parent of a pupil or a visitor to our school you have several options. Please take time to consider your journey to Franche. If you would like more information on any aspect of the journey to school, please call the upper school office (01562 751788 option 2), and they will be able to put you in contact with the appropriate person.
Even a short walk each day will contribute towards you child’s health & fitness. Where it is not possible to walk or cycle the whole school journey, we suggest parents use the Co-op car park and White Wickets to ‘Park & Stride’. We are fortunate to have a walking bus run by volunteer parents and grandparents. The bus runs each morning from the Wilton end of Chestnut Grove.
We have a large covered cycle shed in a safe & secure location. The shed can be used by any child or parent who wishes to leave their bicycle at school. Older children have the opportunity to take part in cycling proficiency schemes.
Busses from Kidderminster town centre stop on Wilton Avenue – a few minutes walk away.
We do ask that parents & visitors to our school, who have to drive down Chestnut Grove, park responsibly, and with thought to our neighbours. Please note that unless you have permission from our Head Teacher, it is not possible to park on the school grounds for the purpose of dropping off or collecting children.
Lastly, regular and age appropriate road safety training is given throughout your child’s time at Franche through formal training from Worcestershire County Council and in lesson time.
